API SANGEA Version 5.3 is Now Available!

  • May 27, 2026

American Petroleum Institute (API) and Trinity Consultants are pleased to announce the release of API SANGEA™ Version 5.3. SANGEA is the electronic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculations tool for the natural gas and oil industry, designed to assist petroleum and natural gas companies with estimating, managing, and reporting GHG emissions. It can also be used to track energy consumption and criteria pollutant emissions as well. Version 5.3 incorporates the following enhancements, fixed issues, and known issues:

Enhancements

  • Improved Excel Import Stability: Removed dependency on Microsoft COM-based Excel integration, preventing spreadsheet import failures.
  • Improved Report Export Functionality: Enhanced export behavior to ensure Excel reports consistently generate correct content aligned with ribbon export options.
  • Enhanced Energy Used Data Display: Energy Used data in MBSOC reports is now displayed at the source level instead of module totals when multiple sources exist.
  • New Warning for User-Defined Sources: Added validation to ensure at least one GHG pollutant is selected before creating a user-defined source.

Fixed Issues

  • Fixed an issue that could prevent SANGEA from launching properly in some cases.
  • Corrected calculation logic when energy is selected as activity data, ensuring emissions are properly calculated for Stationary Combustion, Flare, and Indirect Emissions modules.
  • Resolved issue where SO2 column appeared in the interface but was missing from exported MBSOC Excel reports.

Known Issue

  • An error may occur when users copy an existing source and then attempt to change its source type within the copied source. To avoid this, create a new source instead of copying. For assistance, please contact the Support Team at: support@trinityconsultants.com
