API SANGEA Version 5.1 GHG Emission Calculation Software Features New Enhancements

  • February 29, 2024

American Petroleum Institute (API) and Trinity Consultants are pleased to announce the release of API SANGEA™ Version 5.1. SANGEA is the electronic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculations tool for the natural gas and oil industry, designed to assist petroleum and natural gas companies with estimating, managing, and reporting GHG emissions. It can also be used to track energy consumption and criteria pollutant emissions as well. Version 5.1 incorporates the following enhancements, fixed issues, and known issue:

Enhancements

  • Updated the calculation method for Cold Process Venting to use a general calculation method for all wells and process related venting without default emission factors from API GHG compendium. Data inputs have also been updated accordingly
  • Updated the calculation method for Low-Pressure Gas Well Casting Venting using default emission factors from API GHG compendium. Data inputs have also been updated accordingly
  • Updated and added multiple descriptions on the SANGEA user interface, to provide users further guidance and more detailed instruction when adding new sources
  • Updated the input unit of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) from scf to 10^6 scf
  • Allowed users to input decimal activity data for Source Events of Oil and Gas Venting - Non-Routine Source Emissions

Fixed Issues

  • Fixed a Fuel Density data saving issue that occurred when a unit other than lb/gallon was selected
  • Fixed a Fuel Type data saving issue that occurred when a fuel type other than distillate oil was selected with the option of electricity supplied from a known generator, for Indirect Emissions – Purchased or Import Electricity

Known Issue

  • An error could occur if users copy an existing source and then try to change its source type in the copied source, without creating a new source instead. For questions related to this, please contact the Support Team at support@trinityconsultants.com
